Stay Healthy During Cold & Flu Season

The germs are already spreading! Here are some tips to stay healthy and hopefully prevent a cold or flu:
  • Wash your hands frequently, especially while in public or before eating
  • Avoid sharing drinks and food
  • Avoid touching your nose, mouth and eyes
  • Get enough sleep and avoid getting "run down"
  • Reduce stress levels - practice relaxation or meditation techniques
  • Use tissues for coughs and sneezes and dispose of them immediately and appropriately, and wash your hands afterwards
  • Eat right and get regular exercise
  • Zinc and Vitamin C can sometimes prevent the symptoms from getting worse. With Zinc, make sure you have food in your stomach. Wed MD recommends, “For the common cold, zinc lozenges -- 10 mg to 15 mg daily -- are supposed to be started within 24 hours of the onset of cold symptoms. If you do happen to get sick, here are some tips to treat it:
  • Rest! Sleep does wonders for the body
  • Fluids! Drink water and herbal teas
  • Gargle with warm salt water to soothe a sore throat
  • Take a steamy shower!
  • Herbal supplements! I personally like a tincture called Kick Ass Immune. I buy it at my local PCC.
